Muddy hands
As we reach the end of the first term, it is amazing to see how much learning the children have done this term and how much progress they have made.
Literacy
This week we wrote a final diary entry as Oliver Twist after he discovered that his new friends were a bunch of crooks. He mistakenly got arrested when the Artful Dodger stole Mr Brownlow's handkerchief. The children spent the week role-playing as Oliver and exploring his thoughts and feelings. They then planned their diary entries and wrote a final diary entry using the past tense, time conjunctions and expanded noun phrases.
Numeracy
Year 1 have moved onto subtraction this week and are now able to subtract numbers up to 20 pictorially.
Year 2 have consolidated their knowledge of number bonds to 20 and have learnt a new method known as the pictorial method to add two 2 digit numbers.
Science
We talked about the 4 seasons and went outside to look for signs of Autumn. The children then made Autumn globes and talked about the signs of Autumn that were in their Autumn globes.
Have a lovely half term and please remember that the first day back is Tuesday 1st November.
