Week ending Friday 30th September 2022

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to our latest blog.

A big thank you to all the parents who were able to watch our class assembly this morning. I hope you enjoyed listening to your children describe a small part of the learning we have achieved so far in Term 1. We have only really just started, and the children have worked particularly well throughout the term and achieved some fantastic learning across a range of subjects.

In Literacy, we are well over half way through our class text 'Good Night Mr Tom' and the children have so enjoyed finding out about evacuee life and the experiences of the main character William Beech. This week we focused on settings and the children wrote descriptively to describe war-torn London during the Blitz.

Year 6 this week have investigated negative numbers in context, similar to Year 5, who also investigated rounding numbers to nearest 10, 100, 1000 and 10,000.

In science, we completed the 'write-up' of our investigation linked to a fair test and in geography we looked at maps of Maidstone and the children produced their own maps, showing human and physical features and including a key.

To support our learning linked to World War Two, in history we investigated the concept of 'propaganda' and we looked at World War Two propaganda posters and the messages behind the posters.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!
