Cherry Class Week 1 Term 1

Good afternoon and welcome to our first blog of the new academic year!

We have had a good week settling into Rowan Class, doing a range of activities across many areas of the curriculum. For example, we wrote diary entries with the title "My Life As A Pet", where the children wrote in the first person.....as a pet! In addition, we have worked on grammar and punctuation, in particular word classes such as nouns, adjectives and adverbs.

Our class text in Term 1 will be 'Goodnight Mr Tom' which is based on the experiences of an evacuee child during World War Two. The class produced some superb examples of 'Blitz Art' using pastels and chalks.

Today the children in both Year 5 and Year 6 had a chance to meet their numeracy teacher, and numeracy lessons will begin next Monday. Our timetable for Term 1 is just being finalised and in next week's blog there will be a copy of the timetable for you to view.

P.E. will be every FRIDAY and I would be grateful if the children could being in a water bottle with fresh water everyday, in particular Friday's as they did get hot running around today on the playground, in-between the rainfalls!

If you have any questions, or want to talk to me at anytime, I am always available to talk at the end of the day.

I look forward to a great term and year ahead and hope that your child has settled appropriately into Cherry Class.

Have a good weekend everyone

Mr Ramsden
