Term 5 Week 1

Welcome back to Term 5

In literacy this week, we have been discussing Greek mythology. We planned a story about a Greek myth, then wrote it and edited it. We finished the week by finding out information about Zeus – the king of gods. The children have been fascinated by Zeus and researching facts about him.

In maths, Year 5 and 6 have both been learning about angles in shapes, where they meet at a point and finding missing angles. Year 5 have been learning to use a protractor to measure and draw angles. Year 6 have been recapping on the different types of triangles and their features and learning to find missing angles in them. Both year groups have been solving problems using the knowledge and skills they have.

In science this week we have looked at the scientist, philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras. We found out facts about him and looked at how he has influenced the world today.

In PSHE we looked at attitudes to money and discussed why we should spend and save money. We then had different scenarios where children either lost or made money and used role play to act out these scenes.

The topic The Great, the Bold and the Brave has been introduced. This week’s lesson was about chronology; looking at ordering events in ancient civilization and exploring life in Ancient Greece including how it has influenced life today.

PE Kits - P.E. is now every Tuesday afternoon.

There are still some children not wearing the correct PE kit. It must be black shorts/jogging bottoms/leggings with the team colour T shirt. No belly tops should be worn either.

Climbing Experience

Year 5 only will be going climbing on Friday 29th April. Please make sure you have signed the waiver online before they go. Year 5 need to come to school in their P.E. kit on this day.

Our class champions this week for their time spent on TTRS over the Easter break were…

Well done to both of you. Who will it be next week?

Have a great weekend.
