This week we have completed our topic learning.
We have finalised our designs on Tinkercad. We were very proud of our light circuits and how we could use coding to create circuits. We used bulb, wires, switches and batteries to create circuits and investigated with questions such as: What happens if...? This led onto our writing for literacy. We wrote instructions on how to make a circuit as part of an alarm to stop intruders interrupting the SPLAT gang linked to The Demon Headmaster. We spent the week looking at and discussing instructions. Then we planned our instructions before we wrote them.
In maths, Year 5 have been learning about statistics. They have been learning to plot graphs and interpret information on a graph. They have applied these skills to problem solving. Year 6 have been continuing to learn how to multiply and divide decimals by 10, 100 and 1000 and looking at rules and patterns. We ended the week by multiplying a decimal number up to 3 decimal places by a whole number.
TTRockstars Number Day: Well done to Alda who scored the most in this tournament. Keep checking TTRockstars as I will be setting challenges for your child over half term.
Home Learning: Year 6 have been given some algebra maths home learning. Please make sure your child does it.
Mosque Visit: On the first Tuesday back, we will be visiting the mosque in Maidstone. We will leave at 1pm and return by the end of the school day. If any parents could accompany us, that would be really appreciated.
Have a lovely half term.
I will see you all on Monday 20th February 2023.
