16.9.22

This week we have started to read our Literacy text 'Goodnight Mr Tom'. It is about a little boy called William Beech who is evacuated during the Second World War and lives with Mr Tom. We started the week by writing a cold write. We then went on to write a character description and ended the week by looking at diary entries.

In Maths we have been looking at Place Value. Year 5 have been looking at numbers up to 1,000,000 and Year 6 have been looking at numbers up to 10,000,000. Year 6 went on the field to find different ways to represent numbers, looking at the size of each digit. We have been learning to recognise the value of each digit in these numbers.

In topic, we have been looking at World War II, by researching it and finding out facts.

In Science, we have planned an enquiry, discussed how to make a fair test, how to change variables and how to keep variables constant.

In P.E. we are playing team games, building on how to work together, and developing skills and strategies.

Don't forget it's Cedar Class' assembly on Friday 23rd September 2022 at 9.05am. You are very welcome to come and find out about our learning. It is also Jeans for Genes day and the children can wear their jeans with the top part as their school uniform.

Have a lovely weekend.
