Week 4

Apples and Pears this week have been focusing on learning their first two phonics sounds. We have learnt a and m, learning words beginning with these sounds and practising our writing skills.

Our book focus this week was ‘The Gingerbread Man’. We made our very own gingerbread men and decorated them to sell for charity. We demonstrated our physical development and personal hygiene to make them, as we had to roll out and cut the dough. Also remembering it is important to wash our hands when using ingredients and baking.

In maths we have learnt the number one. We looked at using our counting skills to represent the number one in different ways and practising our number formation.

Please make sure your child has a PE kit for Tuesday. If you haven’t got one in school, you would have received a letter.

Apples and Pears have done amazing reading at home this week and for a reward went on the big pirate ship. Your child has received a certificate for their super efforts. They will receive one each Friday so please ensure you support your child’s reading at home and sign the record book.

Please could you support your child to complete their home learning that is related to our story book this week. Your child should have their home learning in their bags.

Don’t forget to look out for our class photo in the Kent messenger.

Have a lovely weekend!
